HVAC-Integrated VHP for Multi-Room Cleanroom Suites
When a whole suite — and the ductwork serving it — must be decontaminated, carrying VHP through the existing air handling system reaches every room from one fixed unit, instead of moving mobile generators room by room.

Why this needs a VHP step
Mobile generators treat one room at a time and never reach the inside of the ducts. In a multi-room aseptic suite that means long shutdowns, repeated set-ups and an untreated air path feeding the rooms.
An HVAC-integrated system injects vapour into the air handling loop. The AHU distributes it through supply ducts, rooms and returns, then helps aerate the suite when the cycle ends.

What to plan for
Survey the AHU first
Fresh-air intake and exhaust must be closed with tight dampers so the suite runs on full recirculation during the cycle. Check damper leakage before anything else.
Materials in the air path
Coils, filters, duct sealants and humidifier sections all see the vapour. Confirm materials, and decide whether humidifiers and cooling coils are bypassed or controlled during the cycle.
Balance between rooms
Rooms with very different volumes or air-change rates reach target concentration at different times. Sensor positions and the qualification BIs should cover the slowest room, not the average.
Integrate with the BMS
Decide which system controls AHU mode, dampers and alarms during the cycle, and how the suite is locked against entry until residuals are confirmed.
Aeration through the HVAC
After exposure, the AHU and catalytic breakdown bring the suite down to the release limit. Fresh-air purge can shorten aeration if the exhaust route is acceptable.
Information an engineer will need
Having these ready makes the first recommendation specific instead of generic.
- Total suite volume and room list
- AHU arrangement (recirculation, fresh air, exhaust)
- Damper type and leakage class
- Duct and filter materials
- BMS supplier and integration requirements
- Target cycle and shutdown window
Common questions
Does the HVAC system need major modification?
The system is designed to connect to existing air handling units without major rework, through a dedicated piping loop. A site survey confirms damper tightness and connection points.
Are the HEPA filters decontaminated too?
The vapour passes through the ductwork and filters with the airflow, so the air path is treated along with the rooms. Filter faces should be included in the BI qualification plan.
Can one system serve several suites?
Yes, if the suites share or can be switched onto the same air path. Each configuration is qualified as its own cycle.
